In April 2012, FAIR sent three volunteers for training in Linux at Mzuzu University, Malawi. Here is a report in their own words about the experience. We thank the guys for their continuing enthusiasm and hope for their work in the future.

23 to 27 April, the following Falai D. Mashart, Richard S. Batch, and Steve Macheka were sent to Mzuzu University to attend Linux training. This was the first training of Linux in Malawi organized by the university. The total number of the people who attended the training was 12 from different organisations.

Achievements:
Linux system installation, networking system, Vim, Vi text editing, Linux commands and working with commands, network booting, tracing problems in computers while at the network, and finally receiving of certificate of attendance.

Problems:
There were not many problems, but we enjoyed participating in the course. Some of the problems were computers: We were required to have a laptop to use for home work exercises and full training at our own time after classes, the time for doing the course was too short.

We thank FAIR for supporting us on fee and accommodation on the training workshop it has really helped us to improve our knowledge in IT skills especially the command prompt of the Linux system which we are currently using. We really appreciate what you did to us we don't take it for granted, and we are ready for any activities that may be assigned to us by FAIR and NICE if there can be another opportunity we are ready to take it so that we continue improving our knowledge day by day.
